21 November 2017 Minsk hosted the International Research Workshop on Quantum Correlations and their Application for Quantum Technologies with participation of Belarusian researchers working in the EU, or so called research diaspora, and in Belarus.

The Workshop was one of the six events in the cycle of diaspora workshops organized within the EaP PLUS project in the Eastern Partnership countries with the aim to contribute to strengthening the links between EaP researchers and their compatriots working in the EU and promote their joint applications to HORIZON 2020.

Being embedded in the program of the XV International Conference on Quantum Optics and Quantum Information, the Diaspora Workshop in Minsk has united the leading researchers from universities, research centers and knowledge-intensive companies based in Germany, UK, Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Armenia and Belarus.

They have discussed the unprecedented opportunities for cooperation in quantum physics and quantum technology provided by the recently adopted HORIZON2020 Work Programme for 2018-2020. The niches do exist in ‘Future and Emerging Technologies’ and ‘ICT’ parts. Here, the primary interest of the participants was focused on the initiative of the European Commission on setting up a new FET FLAGSHIP on Quantum Technologies and possibilities to be involved in developing and implementing this initiative via partnering in coordination and research actions respectively.

The workshop was organized by the Institute of System Analysis and Information Support of Science and Technology, EaP PLUS partner in Belarus and B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
